Kevät saapuu - silti vielä muistellaan talven riemuja!

Merkkarin tytöt edustivat hienosti Vaasaa NOUHÄTÄ! -aluekisoissa 14.4.2016

Merenkurkun koulun kahdeksasluokkalaiset selvittivät hienosti tiensä alkukarsinnoista alueelliseen kilpailuun Vaasan edustajina. Joukkueessa kisasivat Fanny Fodge, Roosa Joki-Hollanti ja Janina Uunila. Tytöt suorittivat rastit reippaasti ja usealta rastilta tuli tytöille täydet pisteet! Tällä tasolla erot joukkueiden välillä ovat pieniä joten jatkopaikkaa ei tällä kertaa loppukilpailuun saatu mutta Merkkari on ylpeä tytöistään!

Heilurikelloja ja USB-ledivalaisimia

Teknisessä työssä ei tänä päivänä opita ainoastaan käyttämään sahaa ja vasaraa. Oppilaat oppivat myös itse suunnittelemaan tuotteita, 3-D tulostusta ja työhjiömuovausta. Vain mielikuvitus on ollut rajana näissä projekteissa.

Kello suunniteltiin itse

Numerot ja heiluri voitiin valmistaa 3d-tulostimella oman suunnitelman mukaan.

Optinen harha saa aikaan kolmiulotteisuuden.

Omat harrastukset näkyvät selvästi kellojen suunnitelmissa.

Arvaatko mikä (mitkä) tällä lehmällä heiluvat?

Seiskojen Usb-ledivalaisimessa nähtiin käytännössä miten valo kulkee aineessa.

Ledivalaisimen kotelo on valmistettu tyhjiömuovaamalla.

Saksan jalkapallomestari vierailulla Merkkarissa

Essi Sainio on suomalainen maajoukkuetason naisjalkapalloilija, joka on pelannut suuren osan urastaan naisten Bundesligassa Saksassa, ja voittanut siellä enismmäisenä suomalaisena Bundesliigan mestaruuden.

Essi vieraili koulullamme Vaasan yliopiston järjestämän saksalaisen viikon johdosta. Hän kertoi koulumme saksanlukijoille minkälaista oli muuttaa Saksaan pelamaan ilman saksan kielen taitoa, viesti oli selvä, pelkällä englannilla ei Saksassa pärjää. 

Essi vastasi myös oppilaiden lähettämiin kysymyksiin. Häneltä kysyttiin mm. tykkääkö hän Justin Bieberistä sekä mikä on parasta jalkapallossa, vastaus ensimmäiseen kysymykseen oli ettei oikeastaan ja toiseen maalien tekeminen ja voittaminen.

Snow sculptures

On the 21st of February 2016 class 7E from Merenkurkku school went out to make snow sculptures on the art lesson.



We went out to the park beside the church. The teacher Mirva divided the class into six groups. The groups started to roll, sculpture, and shape snow into good looking statues.
Luukas, Laura and Anya's group made a statue called Snowtotoro. The statue's eyes were made of 2€ coins.













Eeva, Casper and Julia's group made a sculpture called Unipignon. It was a combination of a unicorn, penguin and a vernon.























Eevi  Alex and Gaurav's group made a devil type animal called Tac.

















Oskari and Ville made together a statue of Winnie da Snow which was a cute snowy bear. 


Anna and Nico made a statue of Kim Kardashian. It was really weird (no picture).


















And last but not least Sara, Sanna and Ahmed made snow Moomin. Cool!


When everybody had finished their sculptures the class voted on whose statue is the best. Everybody closed their eyes and raised their hand on the one they wanted to vote. The competition was tense, but the winner was Winnie da snow made by Ville and Oskari. Congratulations!

Simpsiö

Sports day

We had to be at school at 8:15. Then we signed up our names. Next we packed our things onto the bus and left the school around 8:30. On the bus we listened to music and took some pictures of the sunrise. 

We were at Simpsiö around 10:00 am. Then we put our ski boots on and went to pick up the ski passes from Leena, our PE teacher. Some of us borrowed the downhill ski equipment. 

We got to spend quite a long time in the slopes. Some of us had problems with the anchor elevator, but eventually all got to the top of the hill. The elevator went really fast! At some point we had snacks in the cafe and had a chat with others from Merkkari.

The day went by almost too fast! At one o'clock it was time to head back to the bus and change the downhillski boots to normal shoes. On the bus we again listened to some music. Also we ate some leftovers apples and sandwitches and played some games.

Soon we were back at school and waited for our parents to come to pick us up. Everyone thought that the sports day was really fun. We can't wait for next year.

7th grade at badminton and bowling

Saturday 20th  of February our school had sports day. We 7th graders had the possibility to choose bowling and badminton. When the day started we went to Tennis center where we played badminton. Some of our hits were a little bit too hard and once the "birdie" landed on a lamp. A few people tried to play badminton while sitting on the floor which didn´t seem to go so well, but most importantly everyone had fun. After playing for a few hours we had time to eat our lunch, a sandwich and an apple that the school provided. After eating we went to a bowling center in Vaasa called Cinema bowling. Everyone was there on time and soon we could start the bowling. We put on the bowling shoes and went to the bowling alleys with friends. Lots of noise and tough competition again. We hope everyone enjoyed the sports day as much as we did!
